Gedächtnisambulanzen als wichtiger Anlaufpunkt

Gedächtnisambulanzen spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Diagnostik von Gedächtnisproblemen. In diesen spezialisierten Einrichtungen untersuchen Ärztinnen, Ärzte und andere Fachkräfte die Ursachen von Gedächtnisproblemen und klären ab, ob eine Demenzerkrankung wie Alzheimer vorliegt. In Deutschland gibt es rund 160 dieser Einrichtungen, die auch als Memory Kliniken oder Gedächtnissprechstunden bezeichnet werden. Die Überweisung erfolgt in der Regel durch die Hausärztin oder den Hausarzt.

Mit der Einführung neuer Alzheimer-Medikamente kommt den Gedächtnisambulanzen eine noch größere Bedeutung zu. Erste Zentren koordinieren bereits die notwendigen Schritte für eine mögliche Behandlung mit Leqembi oder Kisunla und begleiten die erforderlichen Untersuchungen.
