Katja Engel: Eine Karriere in der Neurochirurgie – Ein Überblick

• Training kognitiver Fertigkeiten bei Depression: Hierbei vergleicht sie die Wirksamkeit von Achtsamkeitstraining und neuropsychologischem Training.
• Selbstmitgefühl und Selbstwert: Sie untersucht deren Zusammenhänge zu Psychopathologie, Emotionsregulation und Emotionserleben im Rahmen der Borderline-Persönlichkeitsstörung.
• Weiterentwicklung des Fragebogens zur geistigen Leistungsfähigkeit (FLei).
• Subjektive und objektive kognitive Beeinträchtigungen depressiver Patienten.

Prof. Ulrike Bingel: Forschung zu Schmerz und Placeboeffekten

Ergänzend zu Katja Engel wird hier die Arbeit von Prof. Ulrike Bingel vorgestellt, da ihre Forschung thematisch relevant ist. Prof. Bingel leitet die Schmerzambulanz an der Universitätsmedizin Essen und forscht intensiv zu Schmerztherapie und Placeboeffekten.

Schwerpunkte der Forschung von Prof. Bingel

• Wie verarbeitet das Gehirn Schmerzen?
• Wie beeinflusst unser Denken, Fühlen und Handeln das Schmerzempfinden und die Wirksamkeit von Behandlungen?
• Welche Bedeutung haben die Erwartungen und Vorerfahrungen von Patientinnen und Patienten auf den Behandlungserfolg?
• Wie können wir diese Effekte für eine bessere Schmerztherapie nutzen?

Prof. Bingel betont die Bedeutung der Wechselwirkungen zwischen kognitiven Prozessen (Erwartungen, Vorerfahrungen) und physiologischen Vorgängen im Körper. Sie sieht großes Potenzial darin, die Kombination aus der vom Gehirn gesteuerten "körperlichen Apotheke" und etablierten Therapien zu optimieren, um eine neue Ära in der Medizin anzustoßen.
